But not in a row. I did sets of 20 pushups throughout my work day until I reached 300. I am not sure the health benefits of that many pushups spread out over eight hours, but I am certain that it makes my mind feel better. I am a much nicer person when I do pushups throughout the day.
So . . . Happy New Year. I hope everyone survived the holidays without getting too out of shape. I gained some weight, some muscle, some not. Let me address the elephant in the blog, which is that I have not posted here in over a month.
One reason is fairly simple: I work as a beer, wine, and spirits buyer for a grocery store. Starting the week before Thanksgiving and lasting until New Years, those of us in the grocery business and other retail businesses do many times our normal work with generally about the same amount of people. Not complaining just explaining. Truth is I mostly enjoy the challenge, but I am much less productive outside work during the holidays.
The other reason is not as simple: In December I began to question why I started this blog. Was it really to be helpful? Did I think it would help me be a fitness profession? And did I really want to be a personal trainer? Did my passion for working out necessarily mean I should try to make a living doing it?
I started the blog as a battle cry–Fit Over 50! I am happy to continue the page, but not as a coaching or how-to train page, because that’s already out there. When this page first started some of you shared your adventures and achievements. If you all would like to keep the page going, let’s get back to that. That was fun. I know some of you are back in the gym or getting up early to run. Last I heard from my friend Armentta, he had run eleven miles! Let’s get an update now, post-holidays. Me? I did 300 push ups today!
